Canadian-based The Paperboys typify what it means for a band to be eclectic. From bluegrass to punk, Afro-Mexican to Celtic pop, and folk to rock, The Paperboys really do cover it all. With their country-swagger vocals and their jazzy horn section, this group has a vast range of styles and sounds varying from track to track. The Paperboys are truly an independent band: they have their own record label and production company, Stompy Discs and Stomp Productions, from which they promote, market and distribute their recordings. Founding member Tom Landa has been playing shows all over the world with The Paperboys; he’s even made a few stops to The Triple Door and Tractor Tavern before with the group.
If you’re a fan of locals Polyrhythmics or Tubaluba, you’ll be in for a real treat when you see Cordaviva tonight. Blending Soukous, Afrobeat, and Reggae gives Cordaviva an unexpected edge in the local World music scene and completely sets them apart from the crowd. This 8-piece band does a fantastic job of combining sax, trumpet, percussion, guitars, keys and vocals all while giving each instrument their own spotlight.
