Ziibra is a new kind of music marketplace out on the web. Locally grown in Seattle, the start up company’s website is currently in its beta form.
The site signals a paradigm shift in the way in which fans connect to a musician’s product. Its group-purchasing method is built around presales: the artist lists their album seven days before its official release date; the more people who pledge to buy a copy of the record, the lower the cost for everyone. Hence, individuals collectively make the release more affordable while hopefully spreading enthusiasm and support across social media channels.
A number of local musicians have put Ziibra to use already, including Brothers from Another and The Good Sin. Presently, Lerin Herzer & Andrew Joslyn’s (collaborator of Macklmore’s) EP The Girl and the Ghost is on presale through Sept. 17. Tom Eddy of Beat Connection is about to launch a presale of his own for The Art of Escaping.
Ziibra’s exciting take on musical incentives is increasingly drawing the attention of independent musicians. Check out its webpage for information on releases, purchases, and more. Below is a music video for Lerin Herzer & Andrew Joslyn’s stirring song “Meant to Move.”
