Write Music News for SSG Music

SSG Music is a Washington based music website powered by over 110 volunteer contributors. We’re looking for more people to write music news.

The new channels of news in the e-generation are coming directly from the artists. If you have a watchful eye, you’re ahead of the game. It’s time that you get some recognition for it!

News writers will typically receive 2-5 assignments a day depending on your availability. Deadlines also depend on your schedule. If you are available during the day, we assign and work on editing typically between 6:00am – 4:30pm give or take depending on the news of the day. If you are available during the evening we assign and edit between 5:00pm – 10:30 give or take. Since we are talking about news, it must remain topical. In order to try to make it as fresh and topical as possible, we like the assignments back by the same shift. Most news stories take under a half hour to write, some as quick as 5-15 minutes, so it is not too much to ask.

Writer’s Guidelines: It is a news writing position. We follow most of the AP Standard style guide, with some specific exceptions that come up from time to time. As a writer I simply ask that you stick to AP Standard as close as possible. Remember it is news, not opinion, reviewing, or editorializing with the same level that you would get on a blog.
