If hearing the name “Trust” makes you think of the 1977 French rock group, or 2007 Belgian pop artists, think again… think harder… much harder, darker, and more cosmic. Trust is a Canadian power duo hailing from Toronto. Fortunately for Seattle, they will be playing Barboza on September 7 to start their cross continental tour from the U.S. to Europe. While the 50 shows ahead will no doubt bring unpredictable circumstances, the music on this tour will remain predictably awesome. Robert Alfons and Maya Postepski pour on layer after layer of edgy synth tones and drum machines to craft a dark landscape of danceable space-pop. Four on the floor bass drums and reverb soaked synth arpeggios define the musical backdrop for this two piece. Robert adds a flickering neon electricity with his dreamlike vocals. Listening to this band is seriously like watching the Cheshire cat float through outer space on a cloud of fluorescent butterflies. Go ahead and quote me on that, better yet, save your time quoting and spend it coming down to Barboza this Friday to get your fill of the most psychedelic but danceable music Toronto has to offer.
