Zion I is Chop Suey on Saturday. We’re thrilled about this show, but it’s criminal that Zion I doesn’t pack stadiums. They raise the hip-hop standard to a higher plane and they deserve mainstream recognition for it.

They’ve touched the mainstream, and maybe felt a little bit of payoff when they collaborated with Linkin Park a few years ago on “Plc.4 Mie Hæd” off of the Reanimation remixes record they released while on their Hybrid Theory tour. After that, though, they remained a revered and influential part of the West Coast hip-hop underground, which is a benefit to us because it provides us the opportunity to watch them in more intimate settings.

In 2009 Zion I released The Take Over to positive reviews and since then AmpLive has released his solo Murder at the Discotech and Zion I has released “digital box set” The Alpha, an enormous best of download available on iTunes.
