“Now its hard to be a decent human being”

David Bazan, the once vocalist of the beloved Pedro the Lion, still has some of the most recognizable vocals in the in the emo/indie rock world. The melancholic yet manly voice that led Pedro the Lion through four albums and numerous EPs is now doing it under his own name. Late last year he released the critically lauded album Curse your Branches. No longer the Christian indie rock crossover star that he was with Pedro the Lion, Bazan wrote and performed every note and soul-searching, agnostic word on that record. The man has had a crisis of faith and every bit of it has been put forward nakedly and poetically on Curse Your Branches for everyone to see and, at least in my case, to relate to whole-heartedly.

The Song Show series from The Triple Door involves musicians playing their songs acoustically and being interviewed onstage. “Think Behind the Music meets the Tonight Show” is what the promotional materials for this event say. Adding to the uniqueness of the evening will be performances and interviews with Thee Satisfaction and Loch Lomond. For video footage of previous Song Show performances, look no further than here.
