Named artist to watch by Skope Magazine in 2009, Seattle’s local Americana quartet Massy Ferguson are preparing to kick off their headlining tour of the Northwest this Friday, May 13th at the High Dive with Portland’s Richmond Fontaine and Bellingham’s The Sweet Dominiques. Fusing alt-rock sensibilities with heavy doses of twang and blue-collar wit, there is no doubt that this band will not have trouble selling tickets to this weekend’s epic show, and with good cause.

Their debut full-length album, Cold Equations has scored heavy rotation on both KEXP and The Mountain and the band has managed to already bring their distinctive sound to stages across the world, including Australia, Germany, and Mexico. Although they have struck the interests of fans both national and internationally, for this tour they have decided to remain loyal to their local roots, booking 21 shows in Washington & Oregon only, including a free in Lake Forest Park at “Concert in the Parks” on July 6, 2011.

Now touring in support of their new album Hard Water released September 2010, Massy Ferguson has returned from the studio and back to the place they truly shine, onstage. It’s no surprise that over the past few years have seen them pack venues across the Seattle area, from Neumos to the Tractor Tavern. With a sound reminiscent of influences like The Jaybirds, The Blasters, and Bruce Springsteen and the stage presence to match, this promises to be one hell of a way to kick off the weekend.
