The annual funk party known as How The Grouch Stole Christmas is barreling into the Emerald City this Friday night. The tour features such anticipated acts as The Grouch, Zion I, Eligh, Evidence, and DJ Fresh powering up and down the West Coast from L.A. up to Bellingham. This is the fifth year for the annual tradition and The Grouch only seems to perfect even more as it ages. This includes realizing how important technology (more specifically, smartphones) are to your demographics’ lives and The Grouch has consistnently put out a smartphone app for How The Grouch Stole Christmas. This years’ app focuses on the Instagram craze and actually has made a specific Instagram account with a public username and password so his fans can login and upload their photos. That’s trust.

The Grouch is also a proud father and on top of his game; he knows all this too. Three Eyes Off the Time is unabashed in its display of The Grouch’s worldview of growing up, online dating, fatherhood, and the overall state of things. “Daddy’s Home” is one of those classic hip-hop album starters, catching the listener up on the state of our narrator’s life, which according to the song, is just fine. “Home is where the heart is. I kick my feet up and live like the largest.” The track, “The Weight of the World” has an opposite sentiment, however. There are some heart-breaking samples taken from the news about some pretty brutal moments. The song opens with the line, “YouTube murders, what state are we livin’ in?” It reminds the listener that even though things in our lives might be going well, life and death continue in the world around us. Three Eyes Off the Time is a solid disc. The production is strong, and the lyricism is stronger; The Grouch has brought it again.– Gabriel Arguelles”
