“Somebody sent me this text the other day. It said ‘MLK died in 1965. Obama’s our 44th President. 1965 plus 44 is 2009. Now tell me God didn’t have a plan.’ He didn’t. Because God probably doesn’t deal in stupid-a** coincidences.” — Hannibal Buress
Hannibal Buress’ debut album, My Name is Hannibal, is one of those rare cases in which a stand-up album is met with universal appeal (an 8.0 from Pitchfork, to begin with) and wound up on many a comedy fan’s end-of-year list alongside Kyle Kinane’s Death of the Party and Aziz Ansari’s Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening albums in 2010. It took Buress 18 months to put out the album but the timing was just right– by then he already had a Saturday Night Live writing credit and was making his way over to critical darling 30 Rock to be a writer over there.
Now that Hannibal Buress has gotten the attention of the world (including a flattering write up in New York Magazine, he’s taken the show on the road on his first headlining tour. Hannibal Buress live is a guaranteed good time.
