If you’re one of the Seattleites who’s picked up the Live at KEXP Volume 6 CD, you’ve heard the ever captivating live rendition of “Seward Park.” Maybe you’ve hit repeat a couple of times and created your own harmony line to sing along with Tomo Nakayama and Shenandoah Davis. Perhaps you’ve seen Grand Hallway on the cover of City Arts Magazine, or perhaps you’ve seen them with the Seattle Rock Orchestra at The Triple Door. There is also the chance that you’re just reading about Grand Hallway for the first time and you’re wondering what all the fuss is about.
If you’re wondering what the story is on Grand Hallway, they are a varying piece chamber pop band that is lead by multi-instrumentalist Tomo Nakayama. You’re more than like to see him behind a the microphone, guitar in hand, singing his emotionally evocative ballads. Shenandoah Davis, will be off to the side playing piano, singing harmonies like a bird. There are strings, percussion, all things epic. I got word from Shenandoah Davis earlier this week that Grand Hallway will be debuting their new lineup this weekend and playing a lot of new material. Be there to hear it first!
Also, DeVotchKa and Ravenna Woods will be up the road at The Paramount earlier in the evening. They’re going to come check out Grand Hallway and do a special DJ set after their show.
