Win Tickets to Fox and the Law at the High Dive!Posted by Nick Wallace
Fox and the Law, as their bio proudly states, are a “motley group of four” and they are on a mission. As they see it, Seattle’s reputation as one of America’s premier rock and roll cities has been tarnished by the emergence in recent years of a softer, tamer sound. Where Seattle once produced Rock greats such as Hendrix, Cobain, and Vedder, today’s Seattle heroes are of a decidedly folk variety.
Enter Fox and the Law. The first thing you should know about this band is that they are self-identified garage rockers – they have no qualms about turning up the gain and breaking a few drum sticks. The second thing you should know about this band is that less than a year after forming, they won the Seattle Hard Rock Café battle of the bands, topping some other acts that had been playing together for much longer. They managed this feat with songs that show off the blues-inspired talents of their two guitarists, Guy Fox and Ryan Granger, while maintaining a high level of energy throughout.
On Saturday, Fox and the Law bring that same championship caliber garage rock to the High Dive. It would be tough to find a venue better suited for Fox and the Law’s raw style of rock.
Also appearing will be two other Seattle based rock outfits, The Spinning Whips and Blood Orange Paradise. The Spinning Whips take cues from British rock acts such as The Who and The Kinks, but they clearly put their own – sorry – spin on it. Blood Orange Paradise sounds something like Social Distortion, although BOP possibly give less of a shit than Social Distortion, which, again, is ideal for the High Dive.
