The advertisement for Andy Kindler’s DVD I Wish I Was Bitter reads, among other things: “If you’re sick of everything, this is for you.” Way to sum it up, advertisement! Late Show with David Letterman veteran Andy Kindler is known in the comedy world for being caustic and destructive in his approach, and also for, in part, sacrificing more universal acknowledgement of his talents for the ability to unsmilingly speak freely and sometimes rudely about the comedy scene that feeds him.
A comedian who has ingratiated himself to no one, he has time and time again spoken his mind about what hypocrisies lie in modern comedy. His love of speaking his mind even earned him a position as judge on Last Comic Standing in the “Simon Cowell” postition. Look no further than his hilariously controversial “A Hack’s Handbook: A Starter Kit,” which he wrote for National Lampoon twenty years ago, here.
