New York’s Obits will feel right at home in Seattle with their down-home garage feel and laid-back indie style. The band’s tight instrumentation will earn plenty of street cred, but they’re not so perfectly polished that their music feels like a product.
Not quick to put on appearances, these guys work with what they’ve got. Sometimes, that’s the random garbage (bags) that get thrown on stage while they’re playing. Obits clearly don’t mind getting TPed, as shown in their “Spun Out” video. Maybe Seattle audiences can kick it up a notch with some well-timed spraying of shaving cream. (Or not.)
Does this seem like your bag? Well, get there early because label-mates Survival Knife and Seattle’s own Dream Salon will be warming up the stage with more gritty-but-pretty guitar riffs and grungy good times.
Get ready to rock in a mellower, more adult setting with some of the most breakthrough tunes indie label Subpop has to offer. For a feel-good night of post-punky shenanigans, get tickets to the Obits show and pick up some toiletries on the way!
Or if buying tickets is too amped-up for you…
