If you’ve turned on the radio or walked into any retail establishment in the last three years, you’ve undoubtedly heard the ubiquitous Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros hit, “Home.” It’s the kind of song that is best described as an earworm—weaseling its way into your head via catchy choruses refusing to vacate. With a throwback sound and sweet lovey dove-‘y’ duet-style vocal exchange between lead singers Jade Castrinos and Alex Ebert (formerly of Ima Robot), it’s no wonder that this track found universal appeal after its release in 2009. The band supported the success of “Home” and the album on which it was released, Up from Below (Rough Trade Records), with animated appearances at major festivals across the globe. Performing live, Abert and Castrinos take center stage, feeding off one another to create a playfully energetic dynamic, while the rest of the eight-piece band keeps the beat, seemingly content to be out of focus.
This Saturday at the Marymoor Amphitheater, the group will perform in support of the recent release of their sophomore album, Here. Preview some of their new material below.
