All month, San Francisco’s The Believer Magazine has had a contingent of musical road show goons running around the U.S in celebration of their recent music issue. Accompanying it is the Love Songs For Lamps cassette compilation curated by none other than KRecs Calvin Johnson. The label head has been rolling about with acts featured on the compilation since their kick off in Brooklyn on the 10th. On the 23rd, The Vera Project will receive the road show for their last date and deluge the all ages venue in waves of Olympian and associated punk/pop.

The cassette includes tunes by 24 groups, ten of which will allegedly be playing on Thursday with Johnson. Those include Hysterics, The Memories, Shana Cleveland & The Sandcastles,  Tomorrows Tulips, Laura Leif & Amber Phelps Bondaroff, Skrill Meadow, Broken Water, The Shivas, Baby Island, Happy Noose and an appearance by Katie & The Lichen. Other acts that appeared on the compilation include Soviet, Mom, KMVP, White Rainbow,  The Great White Jenkins,  Briana Marela, Ruby Fray, Erin Earthling, Old Night, Margy Pepper, Lovers Without Borders, Mansion Music, Sewn Leather, and Priests.

Well…shows like this don’t really happen very often to say the least. Come out and get more than a little taste of what these plentiful acts have to offer, all capped off with a little musical Washington hero power provided by the founder of KRecs himself. Bring some extra green for a cassette/magazine. Your possibly existant tape deck/Walkman will love you forever.
