Former bassist for Nirvana, Krist Novoselic joined the Scottish band The Vaselines to perform “Jesus Don’t Want Me for a Sunbeam” in Seattle at the Bumbershoot music festival.
Novoselic’s instrument of choice? The accordian. Said Novoselic in an interview with Seattle Weekly last week, “I’ve actually been playing a lot of accordion. I’m obsessed with it. It’s really crazy. I don’t know what the hell happened to me. I just picked one up one day, and have had to play it every day, all the time. It’s an obsession. But I guess there’s a lot worse obsessions. You know what I mean?”
The song was covered by Nirvana in their famous 1994 MTV Unplugged concert performance.
