With the release this week of “Never Never,” Seattle rapper Thaddeus David gave us the second video from his first solo release, Maven. “Never Never” is an obvious stark contrast to the previous single, “Crown Royal,” and the result is a powerful one.

For “Never Never,” Thaddeus David broke away from the party atmosphere most commonly associated with hip hop, and offered up a video produced to match the nature of the song. “Never Never” is a thoughtful, slower song; it’s insightful really. The video, shot entirely in black and white, managed to catch the city in the perfect moment–during the snow fall we had in January that effectively shut Seattle down. The song has an accessible quality to it; it’s impossibly easy to get lost in his voice and the philosophical message of the rap.

While you’re watching, pick up tickets to see him Saturday, March 3rd at the Crocodile paired with The Good Sin and Luck One here. As an added bonus, stream and download Maven here.
