Sun Kil Moon (aka Mark Kozelek) performed with The Roots on Jimmy Fallon and provided us with a special backstage performance of two songs.

The performance included the song, “Track Number 8″, which ironically isn’t the 8th track to the album, Among the Leaves.  This album marks the fifth studio album by Kozelek, with 17 tracks played almost entirely on nylon string guitar.

The San Francisco songwriter has relayed his experience over twenty years in the course of a few songs which relate to his raw emotional state and direct

Among the Leaves is out via Caldo Verde Records and expresses the hardships and workmanship of writing songs, exhibited by the lyrics, “…this is a song I’ve worked on last night, I’ve beat it to death and I can’t get it right, song writing’s lonely, song writing hurts…”
