UPDATE: Godspeed You! Black Emperor Announce First Album in Ten Years

Godspeed You! Black Emperor, to the surprise and exultation of fans the world over, have announced info regarding a their first album since 2002.

UPDATE: Unfortunately for fans of both GY!BE and vinyl you will have to wait a little longer to get the album on wax platters.

According to the band: “The response to our GYBE album announcement and pre-order has been overwhelming… In the past 15 hours we have received as many LP orders as we can fulfill and mail out from our Montreal HQ such that they still arrive to customers by the official release date 2 weeks from now. CDs are still available for pre-order, and we’ll start taking orders for the LP again soon, but for the time being: LP Pre-orders from our webstore have been suspended.”

The overwhelming demand for GYBE product only underscores the increase in the band’s popularity since going on a long hiatus following 2002′s Yanqui U.X.O.proving that perhaps absence does make the heart grow fonder.

As of press date the band has not confirmed when they will resume LP sells.

Word quickly circulated yesterday that GY!BE would be releasing the new LP ALLEJUAH! DON”T BEND! ASCEND!, their first record since Yanqui U.X.O. The band’s label Constellation Records followed up all the fan fawning with some cherished details, stating that included are “evolved and definitive versions of two huge compositions previously known to fans as ‘Albanian’ and ‘Gamelan’…GYBE have offered up a fifth album that we feel is as absolutely vital, virulent, honest and heavy as anything in their discography.”

ALLEJUAH! DON”T BEND! ASCEND! is due for an imminent Oct. 16 release on CD and vinyl. Check out the track list below for what are surely four gargantuan compositions, standing at 54 minutes in total length.
