It’s been less than a year since TV on the Radio lost their friend and bassist Gerard Smith to lung cancer. Despite the loss, the the band has kept moving forward, completing a tour that included a stellar main stage performance at Capitol Hill Block Party. Recently, the band has also hinted at the possible recording their sixth album after their current tour wraps up. In a chat with Australia’s Faster Louder, lead singer Tunde Adebimpe excitedly talked about how the band has been writing new songs on the road in anticipation for some studio time early next year. Says Adebimpe, “I think we’re focusing, at the moment, on finishing this tour and then getting things together for another record. I’m looking forward to finishing this tour in a really strong way, and taking some time to sit and plan that kind of thing, because we usually don’t get to.”
TV on the Radio’s latest album Nine Type of Light was released on April 11, 2011. This would be the sixth studio album for the band, who tends to release a new record every two years.
