Since 1985, British rock act The Wedding Present has been creating an eclectic discography, all the while braving their passions with a pioneer mindset to avoid the games of the record industry. Over time, the band did eventually have to sign to an official record label after the label they had created (Reception) had issues finding distribution companies. Their music continued to prevail, however, by means of extremely personal songwriting. Leading the band has been David Lewis Grdge, who also happens to be the only consistent and original member. Including this year’s release, Valentina, The Wedding Present has eight full-length albums to their name, and although their sound has progressed form traditional rock into more varied arrangements, this Friday at The Crocodile, The Wedding Present is set to play their third album, Seamonsters (released in 1991), in its entirety. The Wedding Present will play other hits amongst it and probably offer a few new tunes up as well.
