Chinoiseries is the album responsible for elevating French artist Onra to his most critically acclaimed heights. After visiting Vietnam for the first time in 2006, Onra, aka Arnaud Bernard, brought back over 30 Chinese and Vietnamese records spanning across the 60s and 70s. He used these tracks as elements for the final product, resulting in Chinoiseries. Bernard is also known for the sampling of soul music, with his genre title being a “hip hop beat maker.” Regardless of all of these great facts and labeling, all you really need to know is that Onra will have you dancing at the Crocodile this Saturday night – that is if you’re game.
