Tonight in Seattle: Futura, The Parlour Suite, and More!Posted by James Reeves
Futura and Seacats will be playing in a last-minute benefit show for The Vera Project tonight. Officially, I don’t even think this show has been announced yet, but just because you didn’t hear about it is no excuse not to go and see two of Washington’s great up-and-coming bands (especially because you’re reading about it now). Futura is an alternative rock band from Edmonds, whose music is upbeat and refreshing, with just a touch of ambiance in some places for a certain spacey feel. Seacats was a 2010 Sound Off! finalist who also competed in last month’s Magma Teen Fest Battle of the Bands, also held at The Vera Project. Be sure not to miss either of these two bands, and benefit the all-ages music scene in Seattle.
The Parlour Suite is the vintage-surf-pop husband and wife duo of Joel and Inga Roberts. Their new record, Everyone’s Looking released this past Friday. The couple’s combination of reverb-saturated guitar tones and decidedly soulful vocals are among the catchiest of sounds that I have listened to as of late. Joining them on tour is drummer Joshua Perez, who provides the necessary snappy snare and upbeat cymbals of the surf-pop genre. Check out The Parlour Suite, joined by Clutch Douglass and White Metal Rabbit at Chop Suey.
