Eleanor Friedberger, Dominant Legs, Blouse @ The Crocodile | 2/9 | 8 pm | $12 (Get Tickets) | 21+

Eleanor Friedberger is known for her role in the Chicago power-pop band The Fiery Furnaces; a band that she created with her brother around a decade ago.  The Fiery Furnaces have created a total of nine albums and sold out shows across the entire globe.  Now, Friedberger has made her first solo record, entitled Last Summer.  Last Summer revolves around an interesting concept in that Friedberger may be discussing the summer of last year, the last summer on Earth, or perhaps even a future summer.  It is the listener’s interpretation of the folky-harmonic-pop that makes Firedberger’s music stand out.  Be sure to head on down to The Crocodile and check out Eleanor Friedberger along with Dominant Legs and Blouse.

If pop music is just too mellow for you, and you’re a metal fan that’s looking for something a bit different, then check out Problem with Dragons at Chop Suey.  PwD is a completely fuzzed out mix of punk, metal, and all-out craziness that is sure to blow you away.  With songs that range from multi-layered vocal harmonies to the eerie ambience of the intense build-up intro to the throat-wrenching primeval scream, Problem with Dragons has it all, including the shredding guitar.  Metal fans, be sure not to miss this show, and get there early to see Planetoid and AudioFaction.
