Legends, forefathers, inventors, innovators– all of those words describe The Skatalites and their 47 year long career. The band, who have collaborated with every big name that Jamaican ska has ever produced, is known for their lively sets comprised of classics, hits, and the occasional Beatles tribute. Tonight isn’t just for the ska fans, it’s for any true lover of music.

Arrive early for the Georgetown Orbits, a phenomenal band in their own right. They’ll get the dance floor moving long before the veterans take the stage.

Podcasting pioneer Jimmy Pardo begins a three-night stint at the Parlor Live in Bellevue tonight. Pardo is one half of the Never Not Funny podcast team with producer Matt Belknap– together they basically created the comedy podcast in 2006. In 2008 they began to charge for the show– releasing the first 20 minutes of every episode for free but charging for the rest. Others have attempted it, but only Never Not Funny has made it work.

Pardo is also known for his crowd work and improvisation on stage. He’s a fast-thinking, quick-witted comedian that often manages to make comedy appear out of thin air. Definitely one of the top five comedians working today.

Beyond being an absolutely brilliant stand-up for over 20 years and managing to make a trend-setting comedy podcast every week, Jimmy Pardo is the warm-up each night for the Conan show on TBS. Every afternoon he gets the tired, hot tourists that wander into the Conan studio warmed up and ready for a great late night show. He sometimes even makes appearances in bits.
