Sex With Strangers @ The Comet | 1/29 | 9 pm | $7

If you’re want to do you part to debunk all that negative talk on the street about Canada’s crappy music scene, then get down to The Comet tonight and check out Sex With StrangersThis five piece electro-pop/rock group from Vancouver B.C. is coming to town to show us just what the scene looks like up north. If you like your new-wave mixed up with a little bit of indie-pop with great vocals, then this band is definitely for you.  They are playing with Partman Parthorse, Scraps, and Championship Belt, so if you have an eclectic ear and you want a show with some variety, you should definitely hit it up.

Darrius Willrich @ The Edgewater Inn | 1/29 | 6 pm | ???? In The Bar

Darrius Willrich is always into something.  He has a background in everything from funk to blues and soul.  When he is not doing his own thing, you can find him on stage supporting one of his many friends here in the Seattle music  scene.  In his solo project, most recently represented by his current  album Can’t Get Enough, you will usually find him behind the keys, singing soulful songs where he is often compared to Stevie Wonder, D’Angelo, and Herbie Hancock.  Tonight he will be playing at The Edgewater Hotel, and the show is listed as Blues. No matter what genre of music he is going to perform, his shows are always worth seeing.  If you want to see for yourself, give this video of him performing at The Triple Door a good listen–it should erase all doubt.

Nomo @ The Tractor | 1/29 | 9 pm | $10

If you’re just looking to hear some chill jazz, don’t go to the Tractor tonight.  Nomo is definitely Jazzy, but there is nothing chill about it. They blend Jazz with Afro-Cuban, and a myriad of other influences and the result is nothing short of impressive.  If you’re looking to see a band that takes you on a musical ride that let’s you make up you’re own story line as they go along, then this is your spot tonight!  Enjoy!

To see all of the SSG picks, please see the Tonight section. We have tickets to giveaway to They Live, Champagne Champagne, Wild Orchid Children and DJ Terry Radjaw. We also have tickets to giveaway to Kool Keith as Dr. Octagon.
