Ravenna Woods @ Chop Suey | 02/16 | 9 pm | $7

Ravenna Woods has been getting a lot of love lately, especially from the staff here at SSG.  If f you are already familiar with their music, then I’ll just be preaching to the choir.  If you are not, don’t worry there’s still room for you in the choir of the crowds at their shows.  They have carved out a niche in the Seattle scene with their heavy indie acoustic tracks that are full of great harmonies, and catchy writing that will leave you with a feeling of connection to their music. They are playing tonight at Chop Suey with Ghost of Falco, and FireworksFor a preview of their sound see the video below, or check out the fresh interview Nikki Benson had with them yesterday  to hear some tracks they played just for us.  Then get down to Chop Suey and enjoy the show.

Chyeah! Chyeah! @ High Dive | 02/16 | 9 pm | $6

Music for the fashion runway?    Chyeah! Chyeah! describes their music as exactly that.; I’ll go with it.  They have a very upbeat, poppy, riff laden sound that would likely entice sassy looks and spins from the hotties working their stuff at a fashion show. It will likely make you want to move and shake as well.  Sonically speaking, it’s your standard 4/4 guitar driven indie-pop with good hooks, and lots of energy.  For a relatively young band, they have put out a really descent sounding demo, and pull it all of well live.  It should be a good time tonight at the High Dive.

Cold December Way @ ToST! | 02/16 | 9 pm | $6

If the Winter weather hasn’t gotten you down far enough, head to ToST! tonight and check out Cold December Way.  This local band is putting their own stamp on the angsty,  forlorned  genre, with simple acoustic songs that speak to and from the heart. With lyrics like ”  If I had my way today/ you’d still be with me/ but your not/ so I guess it’s the way things were meant to be” , it just might be the perfect show to see tonight if you are still bummed from all the joy that is Valentines Day.  Either way these guys are making some good tunes, and definitely worth a look.
