Singer/Songwriter Nick 13, of the American Psychobilly band Tiger Army performs live tonight at the Tractor Tavern, promoting his self titled solo album which released June 2011. The album captures the classic country tradition of intertwined loneliness and romantic longing, all which came as an inspiration for Nick when he left his home of sunny California and did a bit of soul searching whilst taking an interest in the history of country music in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee.
“It’s my hope that not only will people listen to my record, but that people will go back and check out some of these influences and inspirations. Hopefully it will open up a whole new world for them,” exclaims Nick 13 hoping that his music will inspire others will also get interested in the soul and roots of country music. “I find that in the shows that I have played, there are a lot of people who love this music who had no idea that they would.”
American singer songwriter Audra Mae, who is the grand niece of American actress and singer Judy Garland (The Wizard of Oz), and well known for the song she wrote for Susan Boyle (Britains got talent) opens tonight at the tractor. Inspired by her lifetime upbringing in musical theater, at the impressionable age of 18 years old, Audra Mae left home moved from Oklahoma to LA where she perused what she was always meant to do, creating music and entertaining a crowd. Also inspired by classic country tradition, her music is very heart-felt, romantic and full of that recognizable southern twang.
So prepare to be not only moved and inspired but captivated by Nick 13 and his female counterpart Audra Mae, tonight at the Tractor Tavern!

Previewing this show is so special to me it’s nearly intimidating–God Is An Astronaut was the first published review in SSG Music history. The show was December 8, 2008. A dear friend wasn’t able to make the show, I took a few video clips, and here we are two-and-a-half years later with 75+ writers in six different states/provinces. Would all of this have happened if I didn’t understand that GIAA was too rare of a show to be missed, even if I had to brave it alone? We’ll never know. What we do know is that this is their first time back since that old faithful day, and it is going to be a momentous occasion.
God Is An Astronaut is an Irish post-rock band with a warm, dedicated following. They’re back in town to promote their 2010 release, Age of the Fifth Sun. It’s a strong release that shows of their creative prowess in mood layering, ambience, and always tempered with a stroke of cinematic heavy metal. There will likely be a visual element to accompany the music giving the listener the complete emotional experience that can only be felt at their live show. Come! Let the music overtake you.
