New York indie rockers Freelance Whales return to Seattle tonight, rounding off an exciting year that has seen the re-release of their debut album Weathervanes.  Recently, the eclectic five-piece band’s song, “Generator ^First Floor” has gained attention after being selected for use by Twitter in a user experience video, and then featured in the hit TV show Chuck.  Freelance Whales will be playing The Crocodile tonight, joined by opening animal-titled bands Miniature Tigers and Pepper Rabbit.

In the mood for some head banging tonight?  Come check out local metal band Lefthead as they perform their last Seattle show of the year.  Lefthead is a four-member band that specializes in creating crunchy, melody-driven “instru-metal” music that defies contemporary song structures while still getting a crowd going.  It’ll be a loud, guaranteed good time.  Riot in Stereo opens.

Mark Mallman w/David Michael Frank @ Sunset Tavern | 11/23 | 9:30PM | $8

Singer-songwriter Mark Mallman is known for doing extreme things, such as playing his third ever music marathon last month, during which he played music for 78 hours straight.  While you can’t expect such a feat at his Seattle show tonight, you can expect Mallman’s charming pop tunes off his latest album Invincible Criminal.  Joining Mallman is Pacific Northwesterner David Michael Frank, also a talented singer-songwriter.
