Eilen Jewell, Zoe Muth & The Lost High Rollers @ The Tractor Tavern | 6/9 | $12 adv | 21+ | 9 pm

Boston’s Eilen Jewell will play her threadbare Americana at the Tractor tonight. Don’t let her pleasant bluesy voice fool you into thinking she’s harmless, because Eilen packs a mean harmonica solo. With any luck she’ll cover Loretta Lynn or Johnny Kidd & The Pirates or one of the many other influences she wears on her sleeve. If you’re going, don’t miss openers Zoe Muth and the Lost High Rollers, who hold it down for the local alt-country scene. They play their songs with a healthy dose of cheeky lyrics and those oh-so-gorgeous harmonies reminiscent of Northwest staples like The Moondoggies and The Maldives. Zoe Muth and the Lost High Rollers will play a free show with the Maldives July 2nd as part of the Grand Opening series at The Columbia City Theater. You can still win free Maldives tickets for tomorrow night here!
Noah Gundersen & The Courage, The Head & The Heart, The Denouement @ The Crocodile | 6/9 | $8 adv | 21+ | 7 pm

There’s a charisma to the live shows of Noah Gundersen that can’t be communicated on an mp3 or YouTube video. It could just be the chemistry between members of The Courage, which includes Noah’s sister Abby. Her sweet harmonies complement Noah’s world-weary voice with perfect ragged symmetry. This show will have tons of energy and shouted-out triumphs (Dance Now! Get Drunk!) right before the band breaks it down again and again. Openers The Head & The Heart are sure to use their guitars, violins, piano, shakers, mustaches, and beards to woo the Crocodile crowd. They let their listeners have a pretty hook or two, then build until their songs reach a soaring strata of chamber pop astonishingly mature for an unsigned band that only has three songs on their Myspace.
