NBC’s Community is coming to a Neumos near you. Well, kinda. Not really. But Donald Glover who plays Troy Barnes on the hit TV show is definitely coming to Neumos tonight, so is Childish Gambino who is Glover’s on-stage rapping alter-ego. The 27 year-old is a multi-faceted Hollywood threat, he can write, sing, rap, act, perform, and do stand-up comedy and excels in all of them. Although Glover was not awarded a Spiderman audition like the Twitter campaign so hoped for, he was able to get two Comedy Central specials under his belt.

To The Sea with Yuni In Taxco, Lizzie Huffman, and Exohxo at Columbia City Theater|4/21 | 8pm | 21+ | $7

To The Sea is holding a CD release party tonight at Columbia City Theater for their newly released LP Circles, Patterns, Wire. To The Sea has fantastic guitar and drum beats while lead singer Danny Payne is reminiscent of Muse vocalist Matthew Bellamy. This is a band that is definitely worth getting into and watching their career take off, seeing how they’ve already performed at various venues like Neumos, The Crocodile, El Corazon and the list will only continue to grow.
Yuni In Taxco were the KEXP’s Song Of The Day back in July 2010 with their single King In Borneo, which is a phenomenal track and perfect for Fleet Foxes fans. This tropical rock grunge band is a definite keeper for your road-trip playlist. They have chill groove-filled tracks like Dream Drug, then surfer rock with Nasty And Mean.
If Erykah Badu had a cousin from Seattle who sang in a folky/country way, her name would be Lizzie Huffman, and her song A Night In The Country proves so. Huffman definitely has some country roots based upon her singing and songwriting abilities, and she gets some help with her brother Kirk Huffman (from Kay Kay And His Weathered Underground) on writing and recording tracks.
Exohxo has an orchestral rock pop vibe going on that makes you wish that there were more orchestral rock pop bands out there. Between the chamber vocals in the background of such tracks like These Are The Days to the violin intro paired with the drums on Take Hold, Exohxo puts out a sound that instantly grabs ahold of you and makes you take notice.
