Tonight Portlanders have the opportunity to enjoy a great lineup at Rotture. Locals Black Pussy and Ex-Girlfriends Club will be joined by Seattle’s Fox and the Law.
Kicking things off will be Ex-Girlfriends Club, one of my personal favorites. Combining doses of punk and garage with just a tease of pop, EXGFs Club always provides a frenzied live performance.
Fox and the Law will keep things moving with their stripped down, heavy blues, punk-edge rock. Think of a heavier, harder Jack White or Black Keys.
Bringing us through the home stretch, borrowing several members from White Orange, Black Pussy hails back to the days when psychedelic bands weren’t just a bunch of lame kids with synthesizers and whiny voices. Black Pussy uses guitars. Black Pussy uses real drums. Black Pussy plays loud and sings songs about marijuana. But they also know when to pull it back and make it pretty. These guys could have shared a bill with Black Sabbath, early Aerosmith, or even Jefferson Airplane.
All in all, you won’t often come across such a solid bill on a Wednesday.
