This past weekend The Vines‘ frontman Craig Nicholls was arrested for attacking his parents, as well as evading police arrest upon their arrival to the scene, leading to being charged on five counts.

After attacking his mother and father, Nicholls proceeded to both run from and scuffle with the police resulting in minor injuries to both parties. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Nicholls, 35, allegedly punched his mother twice in the head at the family’s home leading to a call being placed for the domestic violence disturbance. When officers arrived Nicholls resisted arrest allegedly injuring a police officer (who suffered “grazes, cuts and bruises to both elbows and knees,”) before being subdued with pepper spray.

Nicholls, who has been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome in 2006 has had a rocky slide from being a former “Rolling Stone” poster boy in 2002. In 2008 the band was forced to cancel all tour dates because of his failing mental health. Although the band continues to record, their last album was 2011′s Future Primitive, Nicholls’s disorder has forced the band cancel shows and go on hiatuses numerous times.

Nicholls was reportedly arrested and charged with five offenses: two counts of domestic assault; stalking or intimidation; resisting arrest and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He’s scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.
