The Jesus Lizard Breaks Up Again
Posted by Adam BarnettThe Jesus Lizard is calling it quits for good, again.
The highly influential noise rock group got back together in 2008-2009, after a ten-year hiatus, and since then have toured around the US with a few festival dates to boot. But all hopes for new material or future dates can probably be put aside for good at this point.
“That reunion tour went so well – we kept it brief, and we didn’t extend it – that it just seemed natural to some of us to just go, ‘Well, let’s do an album. We all can still play, we get along, let’s do it,” guitarist Duane Denison told Rolling Stone in an interview regarding the break-up.
But Rolling Stone noted that Denison then went on to recall “certain members’” disinterest and concern with releasing a “post-reunion LP” to avoid “cliche’s.” Distance between band members was also a contributing factor.
According to Denison, though, they’re “all still friends.”
The band is releasing a book called Book on August 7, featuring photos, Jesus Lizard literature and other related materials.
