The Flaming Lips Make a Musical!

Have you ever seen a musical, but was disappointed because it just wasn’t The Flaming Lips-y enough for you? Well now your dreams are coming true!
After appearing on Yo Gabba Gabba!, the ambiguously alternative “children’s” television show, collaborating with artists such as Ke$ha and Yoko Ono, and creating songs that are hours long, The Lips decided all that action wasn’t enough to curb their appetite for going buckwild.
The musical, based off of their album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, will feature roughly 30 songs. The Los Angeles Times announced the show will debut sometime in November or December of this year. Director Des McAnuff is also taking on writing the screenplay, since “The Social Network” screenwriter Aaron Sorkin bowed out; but don’t let that discourage you, because it shouldn’t.
