Sonic Youth Announce Live Album

Sonic Youth is releasing a live album recorded at Chicago’s Smart Bar on August 11, 1985, titled Smart Bar – Chicago 1985.
The album, which comes out Nov. 14, features remasters of the 14-song set, as well as an unreleased version of “Kat ‘N’ Hat”, and a booklet with photographs by Pat Blashill and Steven Koress.
Just last year, New York City’s Sonic Youth announced that they were dropping off of the grid for a little bit. However, guitarist Lee Ranaldo has just confirmed with BBC Radio 5 that the band is using this spare time to work on archival projects, including Smart Bar – Chicago 1985. Ranaldo also mentioned a tour film from 1986 and a potential reissue of their 1987 album Sister.
