Dungen has been on top of the psychedelic world since the early 00’s, so it is no surprise that their releases become more diverse as time goes on. Their latest, Haxan, was developed as the soundtrack to one of the earliest known animated films, The Adventures of Prince Achmed, and is completely instrumental, which is something the band has not previously done before. Swinging up on the northern leg of their tour and fresh off double duty at Happy Valley’s Pickathon festival, where they played along with a showing of the film, Dungen come to Seattle to thrill fans of quality psychedelic music once again. Fans can expect an eclectic mix of material from all eras of the catalog, including the Haxan.
Wolf People make music that is in a similar style to Dungen but they are much more British about it: earnest, straightforward, driving. The bands are close enough stylistically that during their last set at Pickathon, Dungen’s guitarist Reine joined them onstage for one of their hits, “All Returns.” Their pairing with Dungen effectively makes this billing a double-headliner, with two established European psych acts visiting the States to melt minds.
