Sub Pop darlings Shearwater are returning to Seattle after their triumphant Sasquatch! 2012 appearance.

Over the past few years, Shearwater has simplified their sound from a multi-piece chamber rock band to much more conventional three piece. The new flavors of their sound can be heard on their February 2012 release, Animal Joy.  Jonathan Melburg’s vibrato-augmented signature sound remains unchanged, but there is a marked positivity that has transformed the feeling of the band. Though there are fewer members in this version of Shearwater, they still manage to cram in as much as possible. Listen to Animal Joy below.
