From the sultry bass lines to the quick electric licks, Aldea has a smooth blues rock outfit going on. They encompass male and female vocal harmonies alongside keys, drums, mandolin, trombone, trumpet, and guitars. While Aldea is more-so a blues rock troupe they also make use of the unforgettable guitar solo in songs like Dreams. The six-piece band is almost all UW alum and cite various influences ranging from Kultur Shock to Beirut. They sing about various topics but a couple stand-out songs are When Life Unfolds and A Man’s Will. When Life Unfolds is simple, yet powerful, song that speaks about a death of a loved one, and truly grasps the raw emotion of getting the unbearable news of someone’s passing. They recently released a new video for their single A Man’s Will which is off their latest self-titled album, which you can get off of their bandcamp and also listen to it streaming below. The time-lapse video features artist Emily Taibleson making a watercolor painting start-to-finish.
Aldea will be setting off for a tour and kicking it off at the Josephine in Ballard on August 13. Look below for a complete list of tour dates.
