Students at Rutger’s University in New Jersey can now study Beyonce as part of an official Women’s and Gender Studies course.  Taught by doctoral student Kevin Allred, the class will be entitled “Politicizing Beyonce” and will focus on how the star presents her aesthetic, as well as comparing her hit song lyrics to the work of Alice Walk and Sojourner Truth. The Rutgers University course description also states that in-class discussions will likely cover other female musicians such as Lady Gaga, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Billie Holiday, and more.  If only every college class was this interesting!
