The first night of the Red Hot and Blue Rockabilly Weekend started off red hot, indeed! All were greeted with complimentary shots of Sailor Jerry’s spiced rum upon entry which started things off on a good note. Then there was a hot vintage fashion show courtesy of Marina’s Vintage Boutique and some sexy burlesque entertainment courtesy of Miss Scarlett James. Following that Buzz Campbell’s band hit the stage who rocked the roof off the place. These boys are rockabilly aficionados, from the intense stand up bass slapping of Jonny Bowler to the frantic skin beating of drummer Stinky to the virtuoso Gretsch manhandling of Buzz Campbell; these cats know where it’s at. The dance floor really got shaking. By the time Levi Dexter hit the stage accompanied by Buzz Campbell and his backing band, the place was in a frenzy! Levi, one of the original UK ambassadors of neo-rockabilly pumped out the tunes like there was no tomorrow. What an act! He sang and danced the hell out of that stage and left the crowd wanting more.
