Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam @ The Crocodile Cafe | 12/12 | 8PM | $15 | 21+

Across the span of time there have been numerous blues guitarists that are instantly recognized as being legends of their craft: Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Freddie King, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan and so many more. Soon, Davy Knowles will have the same notoriety. Since releasing his debut album Roll Away in 2007, there has been heavy touring, line-up changes, and a second album Coming Up for Air, which was produced by Peter Frampton. He has also collaborated and performed with a number of big name artists including Michael Franti, Eddie Vedder, and Kid Rock. Not bad for a kid clocking in at just 23 years old. While Davy hails form the Isle of Man in the Irish sea, Back Door Slam, Davy’s band, is comprised entirely of musicians native to Seattle: Steve Barci on drums, Ty Bailie on keys, and PK on bass.
Too often, young artists sing and/or play with the intention of sounding “older,” and just come off sounding like a kid playing dress-up. Davy’s scorching guitar assaults, the raw sensuality of his vocals, and his knack for restraint when warranted, belies his youth; Davy isn’t just trying to sound older, he just is. Don’t miss your opportunity to catch this legend in the making while he’s still rocking the smaller venues. His last visit to The Crocodile last year packed the house and even brought out Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, who joined Davy on stage for a song. Don’t miss his next show at The Crocodile this Saturday night–you will be in for a real treat!
This is video from the last show at The Croc…I was there and yes, it rocked!
