The collective folk group AgesandAges has had quite the busy year writing new material for the next release via Knitting Factory Records and also recording a new cover each month. Their latest cover to be released is The Misfits‘ “Attitude,” and SSG Music is premiering it down below for your listening pleasure!
The song begins slowly with electric guitar, drums, and piano reminiscent of a 1950′s prom ballad. The slow and steady version of “Attitude” doubles the length of the original song, bringing it from 1:33 to 3:39. The collective vocal harmonies that AgesandAges is so widely known for begin to chime in with “Attitude/you got some ****ing attitude/can’t believe what you’re saying to me/ you got some attitude.” AgesandAges took a well-known punk song and slowed it way down, adding in a wind instrument solo and folk harmonies so that at first listen you almost don’t recognize it as a cover of an iconic punk song. While their version of “Attitude” does not include any handclaps, as many of their songs do, it still has the AgesandAges charm that even got noticed by President Obama’s campaign, who featured AgesandAges’ “No Nostalgia” on their playlist.
