Sonny and the Sunsets brought their rugged garage pop rock to the Pickaton Festival on Friday. Sonny came out sporting big luscious black shades that hid his eyes, but there was no doubt with every perky smile he flashed the crowd, that Sonny was enjoying himself as he performed songs from a variety of The Sunsets’ records. Sonny’s self deprecating lyrics did not phase the crowd one bit, they treasured every minuet of the performance, even slower songs like “Pretend you Love Me,” with it’s sturdy beat and tranquil vocals kept fans enamored. When the set came to an end, the staff employee running the woods stage informed Sonny that there was still time for one more song. The sunsets then rounded out the performance with the song “Planet Of Women” from their 2012 release Tomorrow Is Alright, which acts as a slacker anthem. They then headed off stage until their second performance on Sunday.
