Pickathon 2012: Heartless B*stards

The Heartless B*stards performed on the MT. View stage. Their lurid performance was only 3 fourths full, as many fans had made their way to the Woods stage to watch Blitzen Trapper perform an intimate set.  Erika Wennerstrom (vocals, Piano, and, guitar), Jesse Ebaugh (bass), Dave Colvin (drums), and Mark Nathan (guitar) stimulated the fans with blues garage rock that is often compared to The Black Keys. The Bastards performed with intense vigor. One of the highlights of their set was the performance of “Out At Sea” from their 2009 album The Mountain, which features complex electric chord progression and hasty percussion. What was most impressive about the quartet though, were the gritty and fierce vocals of Wennerstrom on “Parted Ways” and “Searching For a Ghost.”
