Pickathon 2012: White DenimPosted by Aaron Sharpsteen
There is a strong possibility that the audience was not ready for White Denim at Pickathon Music Festival. After an afternoon of relatively chill music, they started off their set with some blistering arpeggios and did not stop the shredding for the entire set. Somehow blending the roots tradition of the festival with a more intricate and technical instrumental vibe (like some strange cousin of Don Caballero) that seemed to completely blow the audience away. People attempted to dance, but the drummer kept throwing time changes and complicated jazz beats at them. The bassist kept up – perhaps the only rhythm section that could have kept time with the dueling guitarists, who both knew their way around the necks of their instruments. White Denim was absolutely one of the highlights of the first day of Pickathon 2012.
