Pickathon 2012: The War On Drugs
Posted by Aaron SharpsteenThe War On Drugs came to Pickathon all the way from Philadelphia to play some groovy rock. Perhaps it is something about the East Coast, but the earnestness which they took onto the stage was vaguely reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen. The band gave off an aura of regular, hard-working folks that simply love to play music. The vocalist also kind of sounded like the Boss as well. The crowd for the performance did their best to try and pretend that days of record temperatures plus multiple nights of very hard partying had not taken their toll, but this was a futile exercise. It was apparent that there would likely be no wide-spread dancing from the first note, most people on the lawn remained seated, but that didn’t sap the energy of the performance, The War On Drugs seemed to be perfectly fine to go with the flow.
