Pickathon 2012: Sierra Leone Refugee All-Star Band

Sierra Leone Refugee All-Star Band was the second act on the main stages of Pickathon 2012, and they provided an excellent start to the weekend. Mixing African, Caribbean, and reggae music with ease, they made sure that the sun-drenched audience was in the mood to dance. The lead singer displayed the best dance moves of any musician of the festival, strutting, trotting and kicking on stage while his the band played around him. At one point, the conga player jumped into the audience to start a dance chain, with several people running along and holding hands. They also brought a human face to issues that many audience members might not have thought about, speaking from experience about drought and hunger in Africa, and mentioning some of their charity work.
