Morrissey still hates the royal family.
The former Smiths singer, who describes the royal family as a dictatorship, a “self elected monarchy,” siat down with TV3 news to answer some questions regarding the prank phone call towards the Royal family.
Morrissey would state that the suicide of nurse Jacintha Saldanha was a result of the enormous pressure put on the “poor woman” by the public. Morrissey says that the Royal family should be more responsible in dealing with Saldanha’s case; “Even with the recent story about the nurse killing herself in King Edward Hospital, there’s no blame placed on Kate Middleton, who was in the hospital as far as I could see for absolutely no reason. She feels no shame about the death of this woman, she’s saying nothing about the death of this poor woman. The arrogance of the British royals is staggering, absolutely staggering.” He goes on to say, “of course the Royals are exonerated of this because ‘they are so wonderful’ and we can instead point fingers at the Australian DJs.”
When asked if America is any better in his mind as far as a place to live and be free he responds once more by voicing his dismay for the Royals, “It’s an oppressive place in different ways. Of course they don’t have a royal family to contend with or put up with. They are not quite as dictated to as the British public. So yes, I think they are more free. The British public is told who they like, and they are told they are in love with William and Kate. It isn’t true.”
