M for Montreal, November 16-19

Joseph Sannicandro / November 15, 2011

Founded in 2006 by Sébastien Nasra (Avalanche Productions), in collaboration with the legendary British festival programmer Martin Elbourne (Glastonbury Festival, etc)  M for Montreal  presents its 6th edition,  Nov 16-19, 2011.

Aside from its annual main event in Novemeber, M for Montreal presents showcases spotlighting Montreal and Canadian music all around the world – Canadian Music Week in Toronto, South by Southwest in Austin, The Great Escape in Brighton, North by Northeast in Toronto, Iceland Airwaves, Reykjavik, CMJ Music Marathon in New York and Festival Les Inrocks in Paris – and in Quebec (Mini-m, Mini-m on the road).

This year’s festival features international acts along tons of local favorites and up-and-comers.  Here at SSG Montreal we are particularly looking forward to M83, For A Minor Reflection,  and The Barr Brothers.   Oh, and of course Parlovr, LackofsleepCadence Weapon, Hollerado, and Adam & the Amesthysts (in case you didn’t get enough of him during Pop).

Festival season is about to go into hibernation for the winter, so get one last romp in while the weather is nice.  Check out the full schedule here, and look for show reviews soon.

And just in case you haven’t seen it yet, the video for “Midnight City,”  the first single off of M83‘s new album  Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming.
